Review of Stealth Keylogger

Installation & interface

The installation of Stealth Keylogger is one of the best we have seen. You just run the installation file, click "Install" on the "Welcome" screen, and voila! The product is installed. If Amplusnet will not force its users to reboot their PCs after the installation it would be the best installer ever! In our opinion, of course.

Stealth Keylogger also has a good interface. The intercepted information is grouped into categories and easy to find. The software itself is easy to configure and use. The appearance of Stealth Keylogger is not perfect, though not bad at all. Probably the word "nice" characterizes it the best.

OS support

According to Amplusnet website Stealth Keylogger supports all the operation systems listed in our tests except Windows 7. However during our tests the product worked perfectly on Windows 7, so the points were added. 80 points out of 80.

Security

Stealth Keylogger is password protected, can be accessed by pressing the hotkey combination and can be configured to be removed on a pre-specified date. However its folder can be found by user having no special keylogger-knowledge, and there is no option to set a warning message. It also cannot be accessed by typing a pre-specified keyword. 45 out of 80 points.

Monitoring

Stealth Keylogger almost perfectly monitors file activities — only files' copying is not logged. The main screenshot-making features are also implemented — user can set screenshot making time, their quality and choose if he wants to photo an entire desktop or active window only. Such things as system log on/off and inactivity time, keystrokes typed, clipboard content can also be found in the log-files of Stealth Keylogger. Except the specified above files copying logging such features as logon password, mouse-clicks, sound logging and ability to make screenshots on mouse-click features are also not implemented in Stealth Keylogger. However they do not cost many points and in this section Stealth Keylogger receives 251 of 300 points.

Online monitoring

In this section Stealth Keylogger shows pretty bad results. Out of all browsers only those visited in Internet Explorer are intercepted. The similar situation is with chat conversations — both sides are intercepted in Windows Live and Yahoo IM only. One more thing in this section that is implemented is ability of Stealth Keylogger to make screenshots of visited websites. It is clear from the results of Stealth Keylogger in previous section that it has everything OK with screenshot-making. For the rest it receives 65 points out of 193 in this section only.

Reports

In contrast to the results in previous section Stealth Keylogger gains almost maximum in this one. Logs are perfectly organized — they can be remotely sent by all the means available in our testing; they can be filtered and auto-cleared. Only two things are missing here: ability to specify which of the programs to monitor and the information about the duration of events. 119 of 150 points.

Other

In this section Stealth Keylogger receives points only for its ability to work on schedule. It cannot restrict running websites and applications, cannot react to pre-specified keywords and is available in English only. 13 points of 66.

The bottom line

Stealth Keylogger by Amplusnet is an easy-to-use tool with functionality perfect for monitoring in your office. Though it lacks an ability to prohibit pre-specified websites and applications running its almost perfect results in file-activity, PC log on/off and inactivity time monitoring enforced with ability of remote logs delivery make it almost perfect software to be installed on the PCs of your employees.
